The snowcock's unequal steps follow the scree slope rather than a level branch. Download the embroidery pattern to place rusty flank bars beside large rock facets, small gravel units and two tall shrub stalks.

The scene in detail

Snowcock Across the Scree Fan follows the uneven rhythm of an alpine slope. Establish the larger stones first, keep the two tall stalks distinct, and turn the bird's flank shading through the original rusty diagonal bars.

Stitch direction and shading

The guide maps 12 working regions with local stitch direction, strand count and DMC colour recipes. Use the region key and recommended sequence to follow the overlaps and changes in shading. Mapped techniques include faceted long-and-short, short shaded satin, fine split axes.

Does the scree need to be covered with knots or beads?

The mapped setting uses angular rock planes and separate low gravel fields. Follow their spaces rather than adding a dense bead-like covering to the entire slope.

Cloth and thread choices

Suggested fabric: deep teal-blue linen. The palette proposes 15 DMC shades for stranded cotton. Supply your own needles, hoop or frame and a transfer method suitable for the cloth. Test the transfer and physical thread colours on a small swatch first.
