There are three saffron corms below the roller's broad blue wings. The digital hand embroidery pattern sets them among broken ridges and dry blades, with open ground between the smaller landscape forms.

Before tracing the pattern

  • 300 x 232 mm landscape artwork canvas, including open background
  • A3 transfer PDF: print at Actual Size / 100% and verify the 50 mm control bar
  • The Stitch Guide has US Letter pages; its previews are reduced
  • Canvas measurements do not specify the size of a finished object

The stitch recipes

The guide maps 12 working regions with local stitch direction, strand count and DMC colour recipes. Use the region key and recommended sequence to follow the overlaps and changes in shading. Mapped techniques include split and short shaded fill, curved long-and-short, directional long-and-short.

Linen and colour planning

Suggested fabric: plum linen. The palette proposes 20 DMC shades for stranded cotton. Supply your own needles, hoop or frame and a transfer method suitable for the cloth. Test the transfer and physical thread colours on a small swatch first.

What the download contains

The package contains the 16-page Stitch Guide PDF, a full-size A3 transfer PDF, SVG linework, white and transparent 600 dpi linework PNGs, a colour reference JPG, the thread-and-region CSV, READ_ME instructions and the Hand Embroidery Stitch Sampler, Essential Needlework Handbook PDF.

What lies beneath the flying roller?

The lower setting contains saffron field ridges, crossing dry blades and three corms at different angles. It is a worked landscape rather than a floral perch.

A closer look at the motif

Roller Above the Saffron Field Break pairs blue feather groups with the muted structure of cultivated ground. Work the corms as three separate volumes and let each wing fan follow its own direction across the open field.
