The robin sits where the rose cane divides, with three hips close to its raised tail. This PDF hand embroidery pattern pairs the small orange breast with a taller structure of thorns and leaves.
Bird and setting
Begin with the familiar colour of a robin's breast, then work outward into a less familiar view of rose leaves and thorned wood. Robin at the Split Rose Cane is a study in warm shading and carefully spaced autumn detail.
What makes the rose setting distinctive?
The three hips stay separate, and the leaf groups leave open linen around the tail. The cane gives the bird a support without enclosing it in a wreath.
Placing the full design
Artwork canvas: 232 x 300 mm, portrait, including the open background areas. Print the separate A3 transfer at Actual Size / 100% and check the 50 mm control bar. Guide previews are reduced. These are canvas dimensions, not a finished hoop, cushion or bag size. The Stitch Guide itself uses US Letter pages.
Materials to prepare
Suggested fabric: muted russet linen. The palette proposes 18 DMC shades for stranded cotton. Supply your own needles, hoop or frame and a transfer method suitable for the cloth. Test the transfer and physical thread colours on a small swatch first.
