Pelican and mangrove roots Hand Embroidery Pattern

Crossing mangrove roots establish the setting below a pelican in flight. This PDF embroidery pattern includes interrupted reflections, green foliage and the bird's full closed bill, with broad wings above the horizontal water.
Are the mangrove reflections complete mirror images?
The reflections are interrupted by the horizontal water bands. Work the mapped root and reflection areas separately instead of copying every branch as an unbroken line below it.
Stitch direction and shading
The guide maps 12 working regions with local stitch direction, strand count and DMC colour recipes. Use the region key and recommended sequence to follow the overlaps and changes in shading. Mapped techniques include longitudinal long-and-short, fine split bark, fine split midrib.
Canvas dimensions and printing
Artwork canvas: 300 x 232 mm, landscape, including the open background areas. Print the separate A3 transfer at Actual Size / 100% and check the 50 mm control bar. Guide previews are reduced. These are canvas dimensions, not a finished hoop, cushion or bag size. The Stitch Guide itself uses US Letter pages.
Cloth and thread choices
Suggested fabric: deep burgundy linen. The palette proposes 19 DMC shades for stranded cotton. Supply your own needles, hoop or frame and a transfer method suitable for the cloth. Test the transfer and physical thread colours on a small swatch first.

The scene in detail
Pelican Over the Mangrove Mirror connects the bird's wide flight shape to the arches below. Establish the root crossings and interrupted reflections first, then follow the long bill and separate wing fans across the burgundy ground.
