Ottoman Florals, Iznik Geometry & Blue-White Stitch now brings together the complete two-volume archive and a new landscape companion, Gallery Portfolio — The Gallery Garden. Across 246 richly edited pages, one visual language is encountered through line, thread and twenty new gallery-scale compositions.

Volume I, The Drawn Garden, studies contour, interval, direction, balance and botanical character. Volume II, The Stitched Garden, returns to the same eighty studies after they enter cloth. The Gallery Garden then releases that shared vocabulary into twenty resolved artworks, each presented twice: first as a complete monochrome drawing and then as a complete embroidered interpretation.

Three books, three acts of seeing

The drawing carries the structural obligation of the work before texture and colour lend it material authority. The stitched interpretation reveals what cloth changes: where a contour must widen, where a small interval disappears, where colour separates forms and where the hand revises the drawing so the image remains alive. The new Gallery Portfolio makes a third move. It treats the vocabulary not as a catalogue of motifs but as material for complete, spacious and independently resolved art objects.

The collection can be read in sequence—from line to thread to gallery—or laterally through its A/B pairings. In either direction, the comparison remains exact enough for close study while each page preserves its own compositional independence.

The Drawn Garden

Eighty full-page monochrome studies investigate emergence, pairing, rhythm, rotation, centres, garment placement, geometric structure and the expressive role of open ground. Line remains precise but never mechanical; negative space is treated as an active part of the composition.

The Stitched Garden

The same eighty compositions return in linen and thread. Cobalt, turquoise, ivory and restrained red are used with material discipline. The aim is not to fill every interval, but to let stitch contribute weight, resistance, light, memory and the subtle irregularity of the hand.

Gallery Portfolio — The Gallery Garden

Twenty new gallery-scale compositions extend the archive into a landscape format. Works including The Tulip Court, The Peacock Passage, The Gazelle Threshold and The Heron in the Tile Wind combine botanical, animal, architectural and geometric elements without collapsing them into ornamental density. Each artwork retains measured breathing room and appears as both drawing and embroidery.

A contemporary conversation with Ottoman ornament

Tulips, carnations, hyacinths, saz leaves, palmettes, rosettes, cypress forms, medallions, borders and tile fragments are treated as living visual systems. These newly authored works are informed by Ottoman decorative vocabularies and the chromatic intelligence associated with Iznik ceramics; they are not facsimiles, archaeological reconstructions or copies of historic objects.
