The lammergeier's unequal wings leave long primary tips exposed above ochre ridges. Its digital embroidery pattern includes the tapered tail and small chin beard, with blue ground showing between the mountain bands.

Will a small circular hoop contain the whole design?

Check the full landscape canvas dimensions first. The extended primary tips and tail are essential to this wide composition, so choose a support that accommodates the complete transfer.

The suggested palette

Suggested fabric: deep blue linen. The palette proposes 14 DMC shades for stranded cotton. Supply your own needles, hoop or frame and a transfer method suitable for the cloth. Test the transfer and physical thread colours on a small swatch first.

Working through the thread map

The guide maps 12 working regions with local stitch direction, strand count and DMC colour recipes. Use the region key and recommended sequence to follow the overlaps and changes in shading. Mapped techniques include faceted long-and-short, fine split stitch, turning long-and-short.

Preparing the transfer

  • 300 x 232 mm landscape artwork canvas, including open background
  • A3 transfer PDF: print at Actual Size / 100% and verify the 50 mm control bar
  • The Stitch Guide has US Letter pages; its previews are reduced
  • Canvas measurements do not specify the size of a finished object

Your digital pattern package

  • 16-page design-specific Stitch Guide PDF with region key, DMC palette and recommended sequence
  • Full-size A3 transfer PDF and matching SVG
  • White and transparent 600 dpi linework PNGs
  • Colour reference JPG and thread-and-region recipe CSV
  • Hand Embroidery Stitch Sampler, Essential Needlework Handbook PDF
  • READ_ME instructions

Reading the composition

Lammergeier Through the Ochre Updraft centres on scale and flight direction. Build each wing fan from its own feather tips, keep the chin detail compact, and let the separated ridges hold the quieter lower edge.
