Turquoise feather fields cross red poppy petals as the bee eater flies between the blooms. This PDF embroidery pattern includes a drooping bud and full tail streamers, with the two wing fans held at different angles.

Placing the full design

Artwork canvas: 300 x 232 mm, landscape, including the open background areas. Print the separate A3 transfer at Actual Size / 100% and check the 50 mm control bar. Guide previews are reduced. These are canvas dimensions, not a finished hoop, cushion or bag size. The Stitch Guide itself uses US Letter pages.

Feathers, contours and small details

The guide maps 12 working regions with local stitch direction, strand count and DMC colour recipes. Use the region key and recommended sequence to follow the overlaps and changes in shading. Mapped techniques include split and broken stem, curved long-and-short, tiny satin, straight and split.

Bird and setting

Bee Eater Crossing the Poppy Wind brings a wide colour range into a landscape composition. Keep the flying silhouette complete, then shape each poppy from its folded seams toward the petal edges for a clear contrast with the feathers.

Are both poppy flowers the same size?

The lower flower is larger, with a smaller bloom toward the upper right. Their different placements sit around the bird's flight rather than forming a repeated floral strip.
