The Linen Herbarium
A two-volume botanical embroidery book pairing 80 drawings with 80 embroidered textile interpretations. Follow the same composition from a drawn seed cone, folded leaf or flower into the colour, stitch direction and visible relief of an imagined linen surface.
What Is Included
Two English-language PDF books, 116 pages each, including covers: 232 PDF pages in total.
Volume I: Botanical Objects & Whitework, Studies 01–40.
Volume II: Grand Blooms & Textile Heirlooms, Studies 41–80.
80 paired studies: 80 drawing plates and 80 embroidery interpretation plates.
16 book texts across both volumes, including forewords, reading guides, visual notes, eight chapter essays and closing essays.
Colour notes, comparative readings, chapter contents, study directories and indexes are included inside the books.
From Botanical Drawing to Embroidered Surface
Volume I moves through seed objects, collected botanical fragments, whitework openings and compositions shaped around an untouched linen reserve. Volume II follows historic garden forms, substantial flowers, archival textile fragments and heirloom-inspired compositions.
Magnolia cones, ginkgo leaves, hellebores, poppies, peonies and other botanical subjects provide routes between the chapters. The paired pages let you compare contour, placement, surface treatment and the space surrounding each motif.
