Botanical drawing becomes embroidered lace architecture

Lace Botanica — Embroidered Lace Applique & Guipure Studies is a two-volume digital art-book set by Ridvan Yusein, published by Stitchesly Editions.

Across 80 paired studies, every composition appears first as an original drawing and then as its embroidered textile interpretation. The two pages are designed to be read together: contour beside cloth, negative space beside openwork, botanical rhythm beside raised thread and guipure-inspired structure.

This is not a conventional pattern book. It is an independent visual archive for artists who want to study proportion, reserve, placement, relief, colour-ground relationships and the architecture of embroidered lace.

Volume I — Ascending Forms & Open Reserves

Studies 01–40 / 95 pages

Volume I establishes a language of botanical ascent, edge entry, diagonal movement, framed voids, negative-space lace, insertions, bands and detached fragments. The sequence progresses from fine floral sprays and climbing stems toward structured corners, circular reserves, borders and curated lace specimens.

  1. Ascending Lace Sprays
  2. Edge Entries, Diagonal Drapes & Placement Motifs
  3. Framed Voids, Open Reserves & Negative-Space Lace
  4. Linear Insertions, Panel Bands & Lace Architecture
  5. Bouquet Fragments, Detached Clusters & Curated Lace Specimens

Volume II — Ornamental Relics & Couture Architecture

Studies 41–80 / 98 pages

Volume II moves into volutes, arabesques, heirloom motifs, bridal-white relief, tinted heritage lace, engineered mesh, monumental placements and ceremonial statements. Botanical elements become scrollwork, jewellery-like appliques, veils, crowns, reliquaries and complete couture architectures.

  1. Ornamental Scrollwork, Volutes & Botanical Arabesques
  2. Bridal White Relief, Veil Edges & Heirloom Quietness
  3. Tinted Heritage Lace, Faded Threads & Restrained Botanical Colour
  4. Lace Engineering, Mesh Fields & Structural Bridgework
  5. Monumental Couture Placements, Ceremonial Relics & Singular Lace Statements

Drawing / Cloth

The A pages establish contour, proportion, direction, hierarchy and open reserve. The B pages explore what changes when those decisions enter cloth through thread density, stitch direction, relief, textile weave and saturated colour grounds.

Teal, aubergine, indigo, oxblood, ochre, olive and charcoal fabrics make pale thread behave differently in every study. Drawing and embroidery remain equal parts of one visual investigation rather than a simple before-and-after sequence.

Editorial depth

Both volumes include a title sequence, contents, manifesto, preface, a guide to reading the paired studies, section essays and closing matter. The pacing moves between complete plates and editorial pauses so the collection can be read as an art book, not merely browsed as an image folder.

Important — what this book is not

Lace Botanica is a digital visual study book. It is not a step-by-step embroidery course, stitch chart, scale-certified production pattern or digitized machine-embroidery package. No DST, PES, JEF, EXP, SVG or transfer-pattern files are included.

Digital format, viewing and printing

This is a digital product; no physical book will be shipped. The pages may be viewed on a computer or tablet, printed at home, or sent to a professional print service for personal use. For the intended paired reading experience, use two-page or facing-page view with the A drawing beside the B textile interpretation. Printer settings, paper and screen calibration may cause small colour differences.
