About This Design

The large cosmos is the visual anchor, but the design depends just as much on restraint around it. Fine white-bud branches and narrow grasses stay deliberately light so the open center remains calm. Long-and-short stitch, fishbone stitch, padded satin, French knots and delicate stem work create contrast without making the surface heavy.

What You'll Need

To stitch this piece you'll need: fine linen or linen-cotton in soft ivory, pale flax, light oat, warm natural grey or very light stone; 15-20 cm; embroidery needles sizes 7-9; six-strand embroidery floss; your preferred transfer tool; and the DMC shades listed in the guide. A light tear-away stabilizer is optional for particularly soft or loosely woven fabric.
