About This Design

This pattern is built around contrast. Warm whites, olives, dusty yellow, pale blue and lavender retain visibility against deep green fabric, giving you the depth of dark-ground embroidery without having to solve the color relationships from scratch.

What You'll Need

To stitch this piece you'll need: fine linen or linen-cotton in deep moss, fern green, muted olive or another dark meadow green; a comfortable embroidery hoop that keeps the working area evenly taut; embroidery needles sizes 7-9, with a finer needle for small knots and butterfly details; six-strand embroidery floss; your preferred transfer tool; and the DMC shades listed in the guide. Use a transfer method that remains visible on dark cloth and test every pale shade on the final ground before stitching.
