Draft preparation note: main pattern and stitch guide files await recovery. Keep unpublished. Prepared file: the supplied Essential Needlework Handbook.
Cornflower and Wild Rye is a paired hand embroidery pattern about the contrast between blooms and grain. Cornflower supplies the more intricate flower shape, while rye contributes fine stems and repeated grain forms. Keeping the two plant families recognisable is more useful here than giving every area the same amount of stitching.
About the download
An English PDF stitch guide accompanies this hand embroidery pattern. The drawing and embroidery reference support the project.
Working the design
Keep the rye legible as a separate plant family rather than merging every stem into the flower group.
Files included
- English stitch guide and suggested DMC palette
- Transfer artwork and embroidery reference
Size and printing
The full design field is 20 × 30 cm (7.87 × 11.81 in), including the unstitched areas in the drawing. This measures the layout, not each motif or the finished textile. Print at 100% / Actual Size with Fit to Page switched off. Check the printed scale before transferring.
Fabric and preparation
Suggested experience: beginner to intermediate. Use stable linen or linen-cotton; test the transfer method and palette on your chosen cloth. You will also need embroidery cotton, suitable needles, a hoop or frame and a transfer tool suited to your fabric. Leave extra cloth for holding, mounting or sewing. Test stitches and thread colours on a scrap first; screen colours and dye lots vary.
Using the files
This is a digital download. Fabric, thread, tools and finished embroidery are not supplied. Follow the transfer drawing for placement. Lifestyle images show possible uses; garment sewing templates are not included. This is a hand embroidery project; machine embroidery stitch files are not promised.
Licence
Personal, non-commercial use. Do not share, resell or redistribute the files or artwork. Selling finished pieces requires separate written permission from Stitchesly.
