A flower beside a broken border. A dark pine branch against pale thread. A small geometric mark that gives a length of cloth its rhythm.
Alpine Chalet Studies is a two-volume digital embroidery book collection with 80 studies, 160 paired images and 204 pages. Winter botanicals meet stepped diamonds, interrupted bands and open lattices in a visual exploration of cloth for an imagined mountain home.
From Drawing to Textile
Every study brings two views together: an A drawing reference that reveals shape and placement, and a B embroidered textile interpretation that explores colour, thread direction, relief and the character of the ground. Large landscape plates leave room to study both the whole composition and its quieter details.
Two Volumes, One Collection
Volume I — Winter Flowers & Quiet Linens
Studies 01–40 follow winter flowers, fine branches and delicate borders across imagined household linens. Seven essays consider placement, materials, colour and the expressive role of open ground.
Volume II — Carved Geometry & Winter Cloth
Studies 41–80 bring floral forms into conversation with measured lines, geometric fragments and richer textile grounds. Seven further essays explore rhythm, proportion and the movement from a drawn mark to a stitched surface.
